What the line had to do
A flour mill rarely sells one pack format. Retail and food-service customers order 25 kg sacks, while industrial bakeries and noodle plants order 40 kg, and both have to be filled on the same line without a long stop in between. The Vimaflour station was built around that requirement: a carousel that can be set up for either bag weight and hold a steady 12 bags per minute.
Twelve bags per minute from six spouts means each spout completes a bag roughly every thirty seconds, and the line as a whole releases one finished bag every five seconds. At that pace there is no spare time in the cycle for an operator to correct a badly presented bag, so every step between filling and stacking has to work first time, every time.
How the stations fit together
The bagging carousel is the heart of the line. Six spouts work in rotation: while one bag is being filled and weighed, the others are being presented, released or checked, which is what allows a modest filling rate per spout to add up to a useful line output.
Downstream of the carousel, the bag shaker does work that is easy to underestimate. Flour is aerated when it is filled and sits high and uneven in the bag. Shaking settles the product down before closing, so the bag ends up square and dense, the closing line runs through clean material rather than a dust cloud, and the finished sacks stack into a stable pallet instead of slumping.
Closing is handled by an automatic sewing machine, which folds and stitches the bag mouth in one pass. The choice of closing method matters more on flour than on most products: a poorly closed sack leaks product during transport and lets moisture into a hygroscopic material. Mills that also run valve bags or pre-made open-mouth bags usually specify a bag attacher or a tubular reel bagging machine alongside the carousel to cover both formats.
Finally the bag stack groups finished sacks into the pattern that goes to the palletizer, so the downstream column palletizer receives a consistent layer instead of a stream of individual bags.
What to settle before specifying a line like this
- The full bag range, not today's bag. A carousel bought for one size is expensive to stretch later.
- Flour behaviour. Fine, aerated flour settles differently from coarse semolina, and it decides how much shaking and de-aeration the line needs.
- Dust extraction at the closing point. This is where a flour line is judged by the people working on it.
- The pallet pattern. Stacking and palletizing are specified together, or the bags arrive at the palletizer in the wrong orientation.

Mills that need higher output than a carousel of this size can deliver usually move to a fully automatic bagging machine, or add a jumbo bag packing machine for the 500 kg to 1,000 kg orders that a 25 kg line cannot serve economically.
If you are sizing a flour packing line, send us your bag sizes and target bags per hour and we will come back with the carousel configuration, the closing method and a budget price.
